How Bauer is helping to develop Malaysia into a major regional logistics hub in South-East Asia
Logistics in Malaysia has evolved in recent years, underpinned by strong growth enablers such as improved infrastructure, rising freight volumes and structural growth in e-commerce.
The city of Shah Alam where Bauer Equipment Malaysia has its office since 1996 is the capital city of the state of Selangor, which accounts for 32.2% of Malaysia's manufacturing sector, for 34.1% of the industry nationwide, for 25.5% of Malaysia's GDP and has the largest population in Malaysia. No wonder that this area attracts investors from China, Singapore and other countries who are actively engaged in the development of big logistics hubs.
Mapletree Logistics Trust (“MLT”) is Singapore’s first Asia-focused logistics real estate investment trust. In Shah Alam another large logistics hub is currently under construction developed by Mapletree. This center comprises three blocks of double-story ramp-up, multi-tenanted logistics and warehousing facilities. The property, which comes with mezzanine offices, has a total GFA of approximately 213,130 m2 offering excellent connectivity to many multinational corporations and logistics providers.
GEOHAN and ANEKA, two of the oldest key customers of Bauer Equipment Malaysia are doing the foundation work for this project. 11 Bauer drilling rigs in the range of BG 30, BG 38 and BG 42 are in operation on two neighboring sites having in total 1,436 bore piles to do with diameter of up to 2,000 mm and up to 60 m in depth.
